The Bare Family Farm
Freezer Beef

Our beef is raised right on our farm. We have four to six cows which produce our freezer beef stock. Since we raise our own beef we can show detailed records on where your beef came from and what has gone into producing your beef. We feed our animals on our pasture, with locally produced hay, and grain from Rowe Feeds, Purina Feeds and Harvestland Co-op -- only selecting feeds using all natural feed additives.

We ensure that our beef is antibiotic and immuization free for 180 days prior to sending it to the butcher. That 180 days represents the 'finishing' phase of raising beef. If any animal requires antibiotics the 180 days is reset to ensure the beef is free from antibiotics.

There has been a lot of concern about the use of growth hormones and antibiotics in beef. First, we use no growth hormones in producing our beef! Second, most of the concerns about antibiotics in animals have to do with antibiotic resistance. You can read more about antibiotic resistance in regards to the beef industry in Antibiotic Resistance: Questions and Answers, a Fact Sheet from Ohio State University.
